STRONG RESULTS
Eclipse unbeaten in Phoenix event

The Eclipse Select Soccer Club U-16 Elite Clubs National League team posted a strong 3-0-0 showing and the Eclipse Select U-15 and U-17 ECNL squads also had an unbeaten weekend at 2-0-1 during the first leg of the 2012-13 ECNL National Showcase Event Series last Sunday through Monday in Arizona.

The Eclipse Select U-16 ECNL team is off to the best start of 2012-13 among the Eclipse Select sides with a 6-0-0 record after rolling through the showcase competition with a 3-1 victory against D'Feeters Soccer Club, a 6-0 win against Real Colorado and a 2-0 blanking of Challenge SC. Riley Sykes (Gurnee, Ill.) had two goals during the win against D'Feeters.

The Eclipse Select U-17 ECNL team corralled a 3-0 victory against Arsenal FC on Saturday with Katy Karabetsos (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) netting the third goal from distance to cap off the win. The U-17s also had a 2-0 win against reigning ECNL champion Slammers FC on Monday, and the team added a 1-1 draw against West Coast FC on Sunday.

The Eclipse Select U-15 ECNL squad opened the showcase with a pair of victories, pulling off a tight 3-2 victory against the Dallas Texans on Saturday, then shutting out Arsenal, 4-0 on Sunday, with Zoe Redei (Highland Park, Ill.) finding the back of the net twice against Arsenal. Eclipse Select (4-1-2) also played Real Colorado to a 1-1 draw on Monday.

The Eclipse Select U-18 ECNL team had a 1-1-1 performance at the showcase, and the team defeated the Dallas Texans, 4-0, on the opening Saturday as all four Eclipse Select teams prevailed. Goalkeeper Cristina Mursuli (Inverness, Ill.) maintained the clean sheet in goal for the victory. Though the U-18s dropped their first match of the season against the Concorde Fire on Sunday, the team is 5-1-1 on the season and opened the campaign with five straight victories.
