Strang & Nielsen named Illinois Youth Soccer Coaches Of Year

Brett Strang of Galaxy SC and Phil Nielsen of Team Chicago have been named the 2012 Illinois Youth Soccer Competitive Coaches of the Year.

Strang's Galaxy teams put together an impressive run in 2012 that included a US Youth Soccer National Title (U17 Boys), State Cup Championships (U17 & U18 Boys), US Youth Soccer National League Championship (U17 Boys) and Midwest Regional League Championship (Under-15 Boys).

"Brett has played a huge role model in my life as I know he has in many of my teammates life too," Mike Pavliga, GK for the National Champion Galaxy team said. "Coaching wise he knows every individual players talent on our team so well and that's a key to why he knows exactly where to put people when they're needed there. He trains us hard, really hard, but at the same time he's motivating and the real reason why he's a fantastic coach is that he believes in us more than anyone."

In addition to his responsibilities as Team Chicago Director of Coaching and an ODP Regional staff coach, Nielsen led a very impressive Under-17 squad to State and Regional title, a third place finish at the US Youth Soccer National Championships and an MRL Premier Division championship.

Both Strang and Nielsen will be honored at the Illinois Youth Soccer Awards Banquet on March 1 and both have been nominated for Midwest Region Coach of the Year, which will be announced soon.
