OLYMPIC QUALIFYING DECIDER
USA to host Colombia in Frisco March 29
FRISCO, Texas -- The U.S. will host Colombia on Tuesday, March 29, at Toyota Stadium for the second leg of its two-game home-and-away playoff for a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday.
The match, which will air live on ESPN2, is set to kick off at 9:30 p.m. ET, following the U.S. World Cup qualifying match against Guatemala at 7:25 p.m. ET.
The first leg of the playoff is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. ET Friday, March 25, in Barranquilla, Colombia.
In October, the U.S. won three first-round games in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship before falling to Honduras in the semifinals. The U-23s won the third-place match against Canada to earn a place in the playoff. Colombia finished second in the 2015 South American Youth championship.
The U.S. is looking to return to the Olympics for the first time since 2008, when it posted a 1-1-1 record, but did not advance from a group that included gold medalists Nigeria in Beijing. The USA’s best showing in the Olympics was a fourth-place finish during the 2000 Games in Sydney, when the team defeated Japan in the quarterfinals.
Tickets to the match at Toyota Stadium go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5, starting at $20 for general admission. FC Dallas season ticket members will receive discounted pre-sale ticket options and FC Dallas will also be offering a special two-match ticket package, which includes a ticket to the Olympic Qualifier and an East Sideline seat for the match of buyer’s choice in April.
