Gordon replaces injured Morris on USMNT for WCQ


CHICAGO - U.S. national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon to the training camp roster for Friday's USA-Mexico game, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday.

Gordon, who will arrive in Columbus later Tuesday, will join replace the injured Jordan Morris, the Seattle Sounders forward who was diagnosed with a hamstring strain suffered during the first half of the FC Dallas-Sounders FC playoff match Sunday night.

Gordon has made two appearances for the United States. He delivered the assist on the 90th minute game-winner by Eddie Johnson in the 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory at Antigua & Barbuda in October 2012.

The final round of World Cup qualifying, also known as the "Hex", begins with USA-Mexico in Columbus, Ohio Friday at 7:45 p.m. ET.

Four days later, the U.S. travels to San Jose in search of its first victory on Costa Rican soil.
