DID YOU WIN THE LOTTERY?
USA-Mexico WCQ in Columbus is a sellout

CHICAGO - For the fifth time the United States-Mexico World Cup qualifier in Columbus, Ohio is a sellout.

The game, which falls on Veterans Day, opens CONCACAF hexagonal for the 2018 World Cup. Also known as the dos a cero match because the final score has favored the USA all four previous time, will be broadcast live on FS1 and Univision (kickoff TBD).

Tickets were assigned through a lottery system, and the applicants will be informed of their application status by 11:59 p.m. ET Monday. Those who are awarded tickets will have their payment card charged by Oct. 13.

As part of the lottery process, U.S. Soccer received 16,868 valid requests for 56,270 tickets, more than double the seating capacity of 23,665 at MAPFRE Stadium. Requests came in from 49 states and the District of Columbia.

For the first time at a U.S. Soccer event, tickets are being issued only as mobile tickets. In an effort to minimize fraudulent resales, no paper, PDF or print-at-home tickets will be issued.

For those who did receive tickets and wish to upgrade, or for those who were not selected in the lottery, U.S. Soccer is offering Premium VIP Programs, which include the guarantee of tickets.

In conjunction with Marriott, the official hotel of U.S. Soccer, there will be an official FanHQ Hotel designated as the premier accommodation spot for fans looking to get the most out of the USA-Mexico experience. The Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel will serve as the main venue for activities throughout the week, including hotel bar takeovers, merchandise sales, and more. Fans will have the ability to book rooms at a special U.S. Soccer rate.

In addition to the FanHQ hotel, there will be two additional options within blocks of the Renaissance Columbus Downtown. Fans will have the ability to book rooms at a special U.S. Soccer rate at the Courtyard Columbus Downtown and Residence Inn Columbus Downtown.

For the convenience of fans, U.S. Soccer will operate shuttles departing from the Official FanHQ hotel to MAPFRE Stadium on game day. The shuttle is available for use for fans staying at the FanHQ Hotel, surrounding hotels or those just wanting a ride from Downtown Columbus. With limited parking at the stadium, the shuttle is one of the best options.

Those who were not successful in the lottery will automatically be entered for any additional seating that can be arranged or for any unused tickets. Any seats that might become available through these means won't be known until the week of the game. Because the event is a World Cup qualifier, standing room tickets are not permitted.

The U.S. has played the Mexicans in Columbus in four WCQs -- 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013.
