by Michael Lewis, Editor

BALTIMORE -- Clint Dempsey joined some lofty company Saturday at M&T Bank Stadium, becoming the fourth American player to record a hat trick in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

During the United States' quarterfinal triumph over Cuba, Dempsey joined Brian McBride, Landon Donovan and Chris Wondolowski in the exclusive club.

McBride first performed the feat in a quarterfinal against El Salvador on Jan. 27, 2002.

Donovan struck for four goals in a quarterfinal encounter against Cuba on July 19, 2003.

And Wondolowski found the net three times in a win over Belize on July 9, 2013.
