Red Stars deal Amanda DaCosta to Breakers

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Chicago Red Stars have traded Portuguese international midfielder Amanda DaCosta to the Boston Breakers, the team announced Thursday.

The Red Stars will receive their natural third (No. 28 overall) and fourth-round (No. 38) picks, sent to the Breakers in exchange for forward Stephanie McCaffrey in July.

“We can’t thank Amanda enough for all she did with us here in Chicago,” Red Stars coach Rory Dames said. “In just the short amount of time we were able to have her, Amanda did a great deal for the Red Stars. I wish nothing but the best for Amanda in Boston and in the UEFA Women’s EURO in 2017.”

DaCosta was acquired from the Washington Spirit last season. DaCosta she played 13 games (eight starts).
