Luis Solignac returning on two-year deal
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Argentinian forward Luis Solignac has signed a two-year contract with a club option for a third with the Chicago Fire, the team announced Thursday.
"Retaining Luis' services as he enters his prime years as a footballer is an important addition for the club as we continue to build our roster for the 2017 season," Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez said. "His pace, combination play, and overall work rate are a very good fit for us. We expect Luis to continue to grow as a player and become an important contributor."
Solignac, 25, scored two goals in 13 games for the Fire after arriving from Colorado Aug 3. He had five goals and four assists in all matches with the Fire and Rapids.
Solgna, born in Buenos Aires, made his professional debut Club Atlético Platense, scoring four goals in 14 appearances, in 2008 then going on loan to Sporting Clube de Braga and Club Atlético Banfield.
Solignac joined Djurgĺrdens IF Fotboll in Sweden, scoring one goal in 14 appearances before heading to IFK Mariehamn in Finland. Solignac scored 20 goals in 41 Veikkausliiga appearances in two seasons, including four multi-goal games.
In 2015, Solignac scored two goals in 10 appearances for Nueva Chicago.
