Liguilla semifinals - first leg roundup

Toluca 0, Tigres 0
Toluca and Tigres played to a scoreless draw in their semifinal first leg match Thursday at Estadio Nemesio Diez.

Both teams had solid early chances, Lucas Lobos with a near-Gol Olimpico for the Diablos Rojos in the 19th minute and Damian Alvarez with sharp header that forced a save from Toluca netminder Alfredo Talavera eight minutes later.

Tigres 'keeper Nahuel Guzman snagged Isaac Brizuela's on-target header in the 60th minute to keep the match scoreless.

The series concludes Sunday at Estadio Universitario.

America 3, Monterrey 0
America roared to a commanding 3-0 lead in their Liguilla semifinal series opener against shorthanded Monterrey Thursday at Estadio Tecnologico.

Luis Mendoza paced the Aguilas with a brace, including the game-winner in the 33rd minute off a pinpoint service from Oribe Peralta. Three minutes later, Rayados defender Efrain Velarde put the ball into his own net to make the score 2-0, and Mendoza added the capper with seven minutes left on the clock.

The Rayados played with ten men after Hiram Mier -- who will miss Sunday's second-leg match at Estadio Azteca -- received his second yellow card of the match in the 34th minute.
