Liguilla Quarterfinals first leg roundup
Pachuca 1, Tigres 1
Tigres and Pachuca traded own goals on their way to a 1-1 draw in their Liguilla quarterfinal series opener Wednesday at Estadio Hidalgo.
Tuzos defender Rodrigo Salinas was the first to put the ball into his own net, in the 48th minute. Hugo Ayala returned the favor for Tigres in the 90th.
Second-seeded Tigres hosts the return match on Saturday.
Pumas 1, America 0
Eighth-seeded Pumas upset regular season winners Club America 1-0 Wednesday at Estadio Olimpico Universitario.
Eduardo Herrera scored the only goal of the match, heading the ball into the net off Daniel Luduena’s cross in the 78th minute.
The Aguilas’ best chance came in the 40th minute, when Ismael Sosa hit the crossbar.
The aggregate-goals series concludes Saturday at Estadio Azteca.
Atlas 1, Monterrey 0
#3 Atlas opened their Liguilla quarterfinal campaign with a 1-0 road win over sixth-seeded Monterrey Thursday at Estadio Tecnologico.
Luis Caballero scored the only goal of the match in the 45th minute, poking a left-footer into the lower corner from close range.
Zorros goalkeeper Federico Vilar preserved the win with a clutch save on Cesar Delgado’s long shot in the the 67th minute.
Atlas hosts the second leg on Sunday.
Jaguares 1, Toluca 1
Jaguares rallied to a 1-1 draw with Toluca in the opening match of their Liguilla semifinal series Thursday at Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna.
Jeronimo Amione put the Diablos Rojos on the board with a valuable road goal in the 45th minute, scissoring the ball into the net off a corner kick. Emiliano Armenteros equalized for Chiapas in the 68th.
Toluca hosts the second leg on Sunday.
