Pachuca takes first leg of the Gran Final

Pachuca 3, Leon 2
Pachuca took command of the Liguilla finals with a 3-2 road win over Leon Thursday at Estadio Nou Camp.

Enner Valencia scored twice off set pieces for the Tuzos, tapping home a free kick to knot the score 1-1 in the 41st minute, and staking Pachuca to a 2-1 lead off a corner kick in the 60th. Hirving Lozano netted the game-winner with a far post blast eight minutes later.

The Esmeraldas took a 1-0 lead courtesy of Carlos Pena, who scored off a corner kick in the 31st minute, and got a late gift from Pachuca in the form of an own goal by Miguel Herrera in the 76th. Pena’s goal could easily have been his second of the match, but he hit the bar with an early attempt.

The series concludes Sunday at Estadio Hidalgo.
