Tijuana 3, Puebla 1
Tijuana spread their scoring out from the first minute through stoppage time on their way to a 3-1 win over Puebla Friday at Estadio Caliente.

Dario Benedetto opened the scoring seconds after the opening kickoff. Fidel Martinez, whose long service into the box set the table for Benedetto, made the score 2-0 off Edgar Castillo’s assist in the 65th, and Fernando Arce closed things out in the third minutes of stoppage. Maicon dos Santos saved Puebla from the shutout with an 83rd-minute left-footer.

The Xolos improve to 5-2-5 and 17 points, while La Franja fall to 2-4-6 (10).

Morelia 2, Santos Laguna 2
Morelia and Santos Laguna played to a 2-2 tie Friday at Estadio Morelos.

Aldo Leao drew first blood for Morelia in the 27th minute, but Juan Pablo Rodriguez – whose defensive error opened the door for Morelia’s opening goal -- tilted the scales toward Santos with goals in the 40th and 56th minutes, the first off an artful free kick and the second from the penalty spot. Eleven minutes after his foul on Oribe Peralta sent Rodriguez to the spot, Carlos Morales salvaged the draw for Morelia.

The result leaves Monarcas (4-4-4) with 16 points, and the 4-5-3 Guerreros with 17.

America 0, Veracruz 0
17th-place Veracruz played Club America to a scoreless draw Saturday at Estadio Azteca.

A pair of second-half subs had late chances to snatch the win for America. Luis Gabriel Rey sent a hard shot at netminder Meliton Hernandez in the 65th minute, and Luis Gabriel Rey blew past two defenders only to send his shot wide in the 84th.

The result leaves the Aguilas at 5-2-5 and 17 points. Veracruz improve to 2-4-6 (10).

Pachuca 2, Jaguares 0
Pachuca got goals from Walter Ayovi and Enner Valencia on their way to a 2-0 win over Jaguares Saturday at Estadio Hidalgo.

Ayovi opened the scoring with a 53rd-minute free kick. Valencia’s 90th-minute insurance goal came two minutes after Jaguares defender Luis Rodriguez was sent off.

The Tuzos improve to 6-2-4 and 20 points, while Jaguares fall to 3-4-5 (13).

Queretaro 2, Tigres 0
Queretaro scored two early goals, and held on for their first win of the season, 2-0 road over Tigres Saturday at Estadio Universitario.

William Fernando Da Silva opened the scoring in the 17th minute, off the rebound of Ricardo Da Silva’s blocked header. Christian Bermudez added an insurance tally from distance in the 26th.

The Gallos Blancos improve to 4-1-7 and 13 points. The loss leaves Tigres at 3-5-4 (14).

Leon 0, Cruz Azul 0
Leon (4-3-5,15 pts) held table-topping Cruz Azul (9-2-1, 29) to a scoreless draw Saturday at Estadio Nou Camp.

The Esmeraldas will play their next match without defender Rafael Marquez, who received two yellow cards in six minutes and was sent off in the 89th minute.

Neither team was very adventurous on attack. Luis Montes put a couple of long shots on goal for Leon, and 66th-minute substitute Mauro Boselli forced Cruz Azul ‘keeper Jose Corona to make a reaction save in the 78th minute.

Atlas 1, Chivas 1
Atlas rallied to a 1-1 draw with Chivas de Guadalajara in Saturday’s Clasico Tapatio at Estadio Jalisco.

Also Di Nigris staked the Herd to a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. Jose Maria Ortigoza latched on to a loose ball and drew the Zorros level in the 72nd.

Atlas improve to 3-5-4 and 14 points, while the draw leaves Chivas at 4-5-3 (17).

Monterrey 2, Pumas 1
Dario Veron followed up the 1-1 equalizer with an own goal that gave Monterrey a 2-1 win over Pumas Sunday at Estadio Olimpico Universitario.

Omar Arellano put the Rayados on the board with a picturebook volley in the 41st minute. Just on the other side of halftime, Veron leveled the score 1-1 with a header off a corner kick. In the 72nd minute, he mis-hit a clearance into his own net to hand the victory to Monterrey (3-3-6, 12 pts).

The loss drops Pumas to 5-3-4 (18).

Atlante 2, Toluca 1
Atlante took over fifth place in the Clausura standings with a 2-1 win over second-place Toluca Sunday at Estadio Andres Quintana Roo.

Roberto Gutierrez opened the scoring for Atlante in the 31st minute, getting on the end of a cross from Luis Venegas, and Michael Arroyo made the score 2-0 with a penalty kick after Paulo Da Silva’s handball in the box in the 53rd. Juan Salgueiro spoiled the Potros’ shutout bid with a free kick goal in stoppage time for Toluca.

The Potros have 18 points (5-3-4), while the 8-1-3 Diablos have 25.
