Soph's first goal sends Flames to Horizon title game

DAYTON, Ohio -- Sophomore Oscar Gonzalez' first collegiate goal, in the 98th minute off a Dimitris Strantzalis feed, gave the UIC men's team a 2-1 extra time win over Milwaukee in the semifinals of the Horizon League tournament at Alumni Field Thursday.

The Flames (8-7-3) will meet Oakland or Wright State in the final at 5 p.m. CT Saturday.

Milwaukee (8-8-3) took the lead in the 45th-minute as substitute Peter Raymonds scored off an Evan Dujardin-Matthias Binder combination, the Panthers’ first shot on goal.

The Flames equalized as Oscar Rivero headed in for his fourth goal of the season off a Max Todd free kick in the 74th minute, Todd’s eighth assist of the season.
