UIC men routed by Oakland
ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The UIC men's team mounted a strong attack but was routed, 5-2, by Oakland in both teamsí final Horizon League regular-season game at the OU Soccer Field Friday night.
The Flames (7-7-3 overall, 5-3-1 HL) outshot Oakland (6-10-0, 5-4-0), 19-8.
The Golden Grizzlies took the lead as Alex Serwatka scored the first of his two goals into an empty net off a Chase Jabbori feed in the fourth minute. Jabbori scored on a 32nd-minute breakaway, then the Flames Oscar Rivero hit the post as the first half ended with Oakland leading, 2-0. Serwatka scored his second goal on a 49th-minute breakaway. Max Todd cut the deficit with a shot from distance in the 58th minute, his eighth goal of the season, Mike Jimenez headed in a Todd corner kick in the 60th minute. Oakland pulled away as Nebojsa Popovic scored off a free kick in the 85th minute and Austin Ricci scored on another breakaway in the 90th minute.
