Meet the Candidates, and Vote!

Notre Dame junior forward Jon Gallagher is one of three nominees for the Chicagoland Soccer News menís college player of the year and the Soccer News Net Menís College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

Gallagher scored 14 goals (five game-winners) in 21 games as the Fighting Irish finished 12-7-2, reaching the third round of the NCAA Championship. Gallagher, from Dundalk, Ireland, led the ACC in scoring and was named the conference Offensive Player of the Year. Gallagher was named to the All-ACC freshman team in 2014, was a third team All-ACC selection last year, and joined teammate Brandon Aubrey on the All-ACC First Team this year.

Gallagher has totaled 26 goals in 64 career games for Notre Dame, leading the team in scoring the last two seasons and being named to the NSCAA All-South Region Second Team two successive seasons.

Gallagher, the Chicagoland Soccer News Player of the Week for the weeks ending Aug. 28, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, developed playing in Connecticut with Beachside Soccer Academy (Benny Feilhaber, Kyle Martino, Marcus Tracy, et al.), going on trial with teams in Europe, and competing for the England Schoolboys FA and with the International Soccer Academy and Home Unitedís junior teams in Singapore.

Fan voting accounts for 40% of the total toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot, and the winner of the popular voting receives the Soccer News Net Supportersí Choice award.
