Meet the Candidates, and Vote!

Notre Dame freshman forward Jennifer Westendorf is one of three nominees for the Chicagoland Soccer News women’s college player of the year and the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

Westendorf scored six goals (three game-winners) in 21 matches as Notre Dame (13-3-5) won its first ACC regular-season title (tied with Clemson). Westendorf was named to the All-ACC second team and conference All-Freshman team as the Fighting Irish reached the semifinals of the conference tournament. Westendorf, one of four Notre Dame players to start every game, provided a threat in the run of play and also off accurate left-foot set pieces.

Westendorf, who grew up in Grayson, Ga., holds Brazilian and U.S. citizenship and helped Brazil qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, totaled four goals and finishing second to Boca Juniors forward Yamila Rodriguez in scoring in the 2015 CONMEBOL qualifying tournament.

Westendorf was named the Chicagoland Player of the Week for the weeks ending Aug. 21, Sept. 12 and Oct. 17.

Fan voting accounts for 40% of the total toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot, and the winner of the popular voting receives the Soccer News Net Supporters’ Choice award.
