MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Notre Dame’s Ryan Finley
Notre Dame senior forward Ryan Finley has been named the Chicagoland Soccer News Player of the Week for the week ending October 28. It’s his second straight player of the week honor and fourth this season.
Finley tallied three goals in two games. He notched a pair of goals in a 3-1 win against Marquette on Oct. 24 that helped the Irish clinch the No. 3 seed in the Big East Championship and a bye to the quarterfinals. He also netted the equalizer in the 88th minute in a 1-1 draw at Marquette on Oct. 27.
On Wednesday, with the game tied 1-1, Finley was tripped up in the box in the 60th minute and buried the penalty kick attempt. He is four-for-four from the penalty spot this season.
Just over a minute later, Patrick Hodan slipped a pass to Finley, who deposited his second tally of the night and his team-leading 16th goal of the season.
On Saturday, with the Irish trailing 1-0, and just under three minutes remaining in regulation, Finley collected a loose ball at the top of the penalty area and deposited his team-high 17th goal of the season. Finley has 11 goals in the last seven matches and has five multiple-goal games.
