NORTHWESTERN WILDCATS

November 14, 2016
WOMEN'S COLLEGE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Northwestern Wildcats' defender Kayla Sharples

The Northwestern Wildcats have based their success on defending, compiling 16 shutouts in their first 21 games. Sophomore defender Kayla Sharples, the Chicagoland Soccer News Women's Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 13, has been part of the back line’s foundation, also providing a scoring threat.

Sharples scored the Wildcats’ opening goal, her third of the season, heading in a Marisa Viggiano cross, in a 3-0 win over Kent State in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Championship.

Sharples, second to Hannah Davison in minutes played among Northwestern field players, was named to the All-Big Ten freshman team last year and was named first team All-Big Ten this season.
