Blue Demon women eliminated by Hoyas

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The DePaul women’s team fell on penalty kicks after playing Georgetown to a 1-1 draw in the semifinals of the Big East Conference tournament at Shaw Field Friday.

Franny Cerny gave the Blue Demons (10-6-3) the lead, flicking past Ariell Schechtman off a Taylor Schissler long ball in the 18th minute. The DePaul back line of Schissler, Elizabeth Endy, Kelli Hubly and Avery Hay helped limit the Hoyas until a 65th-minute Marina Paul goal off a deflected corner kick.

Georgetown (15-2-3) then took a 5-4 shootout edge as Endy hit the crossbar on DePaul's fifth and final attempt.
