STEPPING UP
Paul leads Blue Demon women past Ohio

CHICAGO – Amber Paul had a goal and an assist as the De Paul women (2-1-0) defeated Ohio 3-0 Friday at Wish Field.

In the 21st minute, Paul spotted Natasa Radosavljevic cutting between two Bobcat center backs and slipped the ball through. Radosavljevic responded with her second goal of the year, her shot glancing off the underside of the crossbar on its way into the net.

Eight minutes later, Paul doubled the lead off a smooth combination with Erin Pekovitch and Kelly Blumberg.

"It was a nice cross from Kelly," Paul said. "I hit it with my right foot and knew it was in."

Just two seconds before halftime, freshman Kaily Cox scored her first collegiate goal on a header off a textbook free kick from Rebekah Roller.

"I thought Amber was tremendous," said DePaul coach Erin Chastain. "I really challenged her after last weekend to step up her game."

Paul remembers that wake-up call. "Coach had a talk with me during our individual film session," Paul said. "I was very frustrated last weekend, and I needed a push."

The Blue Demons return to action Sunday at 4:00 pm, against Valparaiso at Wish Field.
